Book Wizard is a software series that enables users to read and/or produce a wide variety of types of digital talking books that is accessible to both users who are visually impaired and users who are blind.

Book Wizard Reader

Enables users to read a wide variety of types of digital talking books as outlined in the specifications designed by the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) and the Digital Audio Information System (DAISY) consortium. 

Book Wizard Producer

Has all of the features of Book Wizard Reader, but adds the ability to create digital talking books on a PC.

Main Features: 

These features are common to all versions:

  • Clear graphics and speech output.
  • Adheres to the DAISY/NISO 2002 definitions.

Book Wizard Producer includes these additional features:

  • Provides users with an enhanced ability to control and navigate through both structured and unstructured audio files.
  • Compatible with source input of either a narrator who reads directly into the program or an imported audio file created from another source. 
  • Create DAISY/NISO 2002 Digital Talking Books.
  • Create any of six kinds of DAISY books.
  • Create an audiobook from a text.
  • Accessible media producers can create specialized formats (such as braille) from NIMAS and other file formats.
  • Edit digital talking books.
