OptiKey is a free and open source assistive on-screen keyboard that runs on Windows. It is designed to be used with a low-cost eye-tracking device to bring keyboard control, mouse control, and speech to people with motor and speech limitations, such as people living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) / Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
Main Features:
- Allows selections to be made using dwell selection, as well as physical buttons and assistive devices and switches.
- It can be used with a mouse or webcam if an eye tracker is not available.
- It can be used as an alternative to a physical keyboard, allowing users to type into any application.
- It can automatically insert spaces between words and capitalize letters to increase the typing rate.
- Users can type whole words and phrases in a single selection by "swiping" or using "auto-complete."
- Replaces the mouse, enabling users to click, scroll, and drag anywhere on the screen.
- Select the 'Speak' key and OptiKey will convert what the user has typed into speech.
