Product Description:
Virgo 4 is a braille and voice output screen reader program and screen magnification program designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. Users can select which sort of information they want to receive via the braille display or speech output or a magnified screen. The user can also choose to receive all information through just one type of output.
Main Features:
- There are two general access modes, the focus mode and the explore mode. The focus mode is activated when using Windows or one of its programs with the keyboard or mouse (simulation). The program follows the focus and delivers all the important information from the screen via braille and speech output.
- Overlapping screen elements are shown together on the display side by side with the type of element indicated. The explore mode is activated whenever the user moves the braille display or speech with the navigation keys. The display no longer follows the focus and the user has full command over horizontal and vertical movement of braille and speech within the current window.
- A Screen Wizard and Web Wizard help users to navigate the screen and the Internet. A Bitmap Wizard helps users to recognize about 1,200 Windows application symbols, and a Program Wizard helps users to switch between programs and change their representation.
- Details about Windows elements and their descriptive text are shown in distinct windows. The user can exclude blank lines or empty space to optimize reading.
- The program automatically reads menus and dialogue boxes as they appear on the screen for immediate audio feedback.
- Users can configure speech functions, including voice, speed, pitch, and the type of information presented. Each speech source (such as navigation, announcement, and keyboard echo) has its own parameter settings.
- Screen magnification features zoom windows, a magnification range from 1 to 48, and color inversion, and much more.
- Settings can be saved for particular applications.
- Microsoft Visual Basic is used as a scripting language for further adaptations to applications.
- Advanced computer users can write their own macros to automate tasks or optimize their configuration.
- Comes with IBM ViaVoice/Outloud in German, English (US and UK), French, Spanish and Italian.
- Can switch from one language to another, and to differentiate languages while reading.
