Lab Tools
Many classes, especially those involving science, expect the student to participate in laboratory experiences. For the student with physical or sensory disabilities, these can be difficult to participate in.
- Some classes ask the student to measure the size or weight of objects ranging from desktop sized to barely visible. This can be challenging to the student who cannot see the measurement tools or cannot operate their controls.
- One common type of measurement tool used in the sciences is the weight scale, to measure weights as small as the weight of a pencil dot.
- Some classes study objects or living things that are too small to see without aid, and depend on microscopes.
- Others ask the student to perceive the heavens through a telescope.
