Doubletalk Chipset (Various Models)
Product Description:
The DoubleTalk Chipset is a speech synthesizer designed for use in talking devices accessible to individuals who are blind or have low vision, or in speaking aids for individuals with speech disabilities. Applications include talking optical character recognition systems, ATM machines, talking pagers and PDAs, GPS navigation systems, vending and ticketing machines, dial-up information systems, handheld barcode readers, security systems, and aids for individuals with speech or visual disabilities.
DoubleTalk RC8650
Converts plain English text into speech automatically, with programmable voice parameters, such as voice, pitch, rate, volume, tone, expression, articulation, etc.
DoubleTalk RC8660
Includes the same features as the RC8650, but also includes extended voice control ranges, multiple channel support, the ability to add or delete individual sound files from recording memory, and more.
Main Features:
These features are common to all versions:
- Include everything needed to implement text-to-speech synthesis with full dynamic control of the voice characteristics.
- In addition, integrated tone generators provide telephone dialing, music, and programmable signaling tones.
- Up to 7.5 MB of built-in, flash-based recording memory can store up to 33 minutes of sound files, which can be played back on demand.
- Record voice memos directly to the on-chip recording memory, and play them back or upload them to a PC.
- Users can use the recording memory for general-purpose storage. An integrated, four-channel A/D converter can collect analog data from up to four different sources and send the samples to the host, or users can choose to store the data in recording memory.
- Standard logic-level serial (UART) and 8-bit bus interfaces are included to allow the chipsets to interface with virtually any microcontroller.
