On-Screen keyboards

Some devices cannot be used through a physical keyboard.  This may be because the device (a phone or tablet) doesn't have a physical keyboard, or it may be because of limited movement available to the user.  In these cases, an image of a keyboard can be presented on the device screen, to be typed on by the user's finger, stylus, or other device.  There are many options for on-screen keyboards, which differ in a number of ways.

  • Some keyboards allow the user to change the layout of the keys for special applications or increased efficiency.
  • Some keyboards have bright or colorful key labels to make them more visible.
  • Some keyboards attempt to assist the typist by guessing the word that they are typing so that the balance of the word can be typed with a single keypress.
  • Some keyboards can be made larger or smaller on the screen, to make the keys easier to press or the background more visible.
  • Some keyboards can be run on public computers without installation, so can be used where ever you need them.
