Joystick Mice
Some "joystick" devices are designed to move the mouse pointer on the screen. When the joystick is pushed up, the mouse pointer moves up. When the stick is pushed to the right, the pointer moves to the right. There are several varieties of these to choose from, based on individual needs.
- Some joysticks, referred to as "analog," provide continuous control. The farther you push the stick, the faster or farther the pointer moves.
- 4 Switch joysticks have a single switch in each direction of movement. When the joystick is moved to the right, the pointer moves right at a fixed speed.
- The standard joystick can be difficult for some people to use. The upright stick can be hard to grasp and control. For these people, joysticks are available with a ball or horizontal bar as grips.
- Some people are not able to move a joystick with their hands, but may be able to control it with their lips. These specialty joysticks may be either analog or 4-switch.
